EMINENCE BACKS SENATOR ANIEKAN BASSEY FOR SECOND TERM

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Managing Director of Eminence Oil and Chemical Ltd, Obong Emmanuel Okon, has called on the people of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District to rally behind the re-election of Senator Aniekan Bassey for a second term in the Senate.
Speaking during an interaction with reporters in the Uyo Senatorial District, on arrival from the APC national convention held over the weekend in Abuja, Obong Okon described Senator Bassey as “a performing lawmaker whose impact at the Nigerian Senate has been both visible and commendable.”
He noted that continuity in representation would enable the senator to consolidate on the gains already recorded, stressing that effective legislative service requires time, experience, and sustained engagement with constituents.
Obong Okon, popularly called Eminence, noted several achievements of Senator Bassey at the red chambers, to include sponsorship and support of people-oriented bills and motions aimed at improving governance and economic development. He also praised the senator’s contributions to debates on national issues, particularly those affecting the Niger Delta region.
According to the APC chieftain, Senator Bassey has facilitated key constituency projects across the eight local government areas of the district, ranging from youth empowerment and skills acquisition programmes to oil palm training and agribusiness programmes.
“His track record in human capital development is evident in the numerous training initiatives, grants, and employment opportunities he has facilitated for our youths and women,” Obong Okon said.
He further commended the senator’s role in oversight functions, especially as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non Governmental Organizations, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, and member of several other committees, noting that his efforts have helped attract federal attention to Akwa Ibom North East.
Obong Okon urged constituents to look beyond partisan lines and support competence and proven performance, saying Senator Bassey’s experience places him in a better position to attract more dividends of democracy to the district.
“As we approach the coming primaries and elections, it is important that we sustain quality representation. Senator Aniekan Bassey has demonstrated capacity, commitment, and results. He deserves the mandate of the people once again,” he added.
The APC stalwart reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing grassroots support across the senatorial district to ensure a successful re-election bid for the lawmaker.
