A’IBOM DEPUTY GOVERNOR LAUDS LADY HELEN OBAREKI, GIFA’S HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS

…Says Women to officially endorse Gov Umo Eno, Senator Akpabio, President Tinubu on March 7.

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, has lauded the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), Lady Helen Eno Obareki, for confidently stepping into the late First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno’s shoes and remaining focused on the GIFA vision.

Senator Eyakenyi gave the commendation during the February edition of the Akwa Ibom State Women’s Monthly Prayer Project held on Thursday, February 18th, at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo.

Reflecting on the theme of the February prayer meeting, “My Visitation, My Manifestation,” the Deputy Governor emphasized that commitment to God’s Word would ensure the manifestation of His promise in the lives of those who trust in Him.

She noted that two years on, this trust and steadfastness had ensured the success of GIFA, which was birthed by the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, whom she described as an angel for humanitarian purposes. She also praised Lady Helen Obareki for stepping in to continue the humanitarian efforts of the late First Lady.

“Today, is just a few hours to the birthday of our angel who is in heaven. It was on her birthday, February 20th, two years ago that we all joined her to launch an NGO platform to reach out and touch lives. Before she left, she established the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA). Before her advent as First Lady, she was already touching lives, but she made it official through the GIFA Platform.

“Even though she could not see it to the end, God gave us a great daughter that could step into that large shoe, in spite of her age. She trusted GOD from day one to succeed in this task and we are all witnesses of God’s manifestation in her life, the way she has carried on with GIFA programs month after month and week after week.”

While urging Lady Helen not to relent in her efforts, she assured her of the support of the women through prayers and presentations.

“We appreciate Lady Helen Obareki’s strength and commitment to GIFA. This Initiative will not end. Through the grace of God, you will sustain your mother’s legacy through GIFA. The women will support you in prayers, presentations and in any way and capacity that we can.”

She used the moment to invite the women to the GIFA anniversary holding on Friday, February 21st.

Speaking further, the Deputy Governor disclosed that the Governor had mandated Akwa Ibom State Women to embark on a sensitization tour to all the Local Government Areas to rally the women towards the ongoing voter registration exercise. She stressed that their registration was a way of appreciating the Governor for his love and support for the women as well as his developmental strides in the state.

She also urged the women to obtain their NIN, stating that possession of the NIN will enable them to participate fully in the Governor’s empowerment initiatives for all the Local Government Areas through the Bureau of Cooperatives and Rural Development.

She disclosed that at the end of the tour, the women would hold a grand rally at the Uyo Township Stadium, where the women of the state will officially endorse the trio of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and Senator Godswill Akpabio for another term in office.

The prayer meeting, which was hosted by Lady Helen Obareki, was attended by senior political stakeholders, government officials, and party faithful. It featured a birthday presentation by February celebrants, led by the Deputy Governor; a Word of Exhortation titled ‘God’s Appointed Time’ by Evangelist (Dr) Enobong Charles; gift presentation by the clergy; and special prayers, hymns, praise, and worship.
