A Popular Medical Tourists Destination and Ibom Int’l Hospital Project.

‘A milestone in Nigeria’s health sector’! – our observation, as Forum of Social Media Administrators and Influencers (FOSMAI), led by the Chairman, Comrade Bassey Samuel Jnr.

In assessing the impact and benefits of this mega-hospital project by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, below are our reasoning:

Akwa Ibom has earned a place among the world’s leading options, as the most popular tourists destination, courtesy of the ongoing 350-bed medical facility project in Akwa Ibom State – the ‘WONDER’ of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Medical tourism in Akwa Ibom brings together two ideas that used to live apart: getting medical treatment and traveling abroad. Interestingly, patients, the world over, will now cross borders to Akwa Ibom for medical treatment or a full health check, given the high-quality medical services the hospital promises to serve. Be that as it were, a number of benefits are worth weighing!

The Ibom Medical City, which will house the Ibom International Hospital, is a landmark 100-hectares healthcare ecosystem located along the Uyo – Ikot Ekpene highway in Akwa Ibom state. It is conceptualized to reverse the idea of traveling abroad for medical treatment, as the project will offer over 60 specialized medical fields and 70 clinics within the facility.

This ENDURANCE that is built to last and run independently, so care never lapses will be staffed by a homegrown workforce, replenished by its own training pipeline.

* IIH will be built to adapt, as the need and technology grows.

* IIH is resilient by design, powered by its own campus, and an institution that is designed to serve a lasting gift to the people of Akwa Ibom.

The core features of the medical city include: a 350-bed facility, spanning up to ten floors, with robotic theatres, 3-Tesla MRI scanners, PET-CT scans, and specialized radio-oncology basements for advanced cancer treatment.

The Ibom Medical City will have residential estates for medical workers, pharmaceutical and life science facilities, a wellness center, and rehabilitation, including a senior citizen center.

The new advanced medical initiative will support clinical research and medical innovation. In this regard, Pastor Umo Eno-led government has aggressively expanded its human capital, recruiting thousands of healthcare professionals and preparing hundreds of state indigenes for specialized international training.

This mega project which is a huge investment on the part of Akwa Ibom State government, is executed by the Project Coordinator, Tokiye Integrated Medical Services (TIMS) Ltd, an an Indigenous healthcare project and systems management company with over 17years of operational expertise.

TIMS execution of the IIH project is spearheaded by Harvard-trained health systems specialist Dr. Teinye Isokariari, with its development and operational strength to drive the delivery of a quaternary healthcare designed by global standards.

The delivery of the Ibom International Hospital project is managed under the direct supervision of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health with the mega project expected to provide world-class medical services, as Akwa Ibom sets the pace for medical tourism in the country.

The facility, which sits on a hundred hectares, will put a stop to outbound medical tourism by Nigerians who have to visit other nations of the world for advanced treatment. The Ibom International Hospital is billed to deliver world-class healthcare services across critical health care specialties, to include: Oncology, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Trauma care, Orthopaedics, among other specialties in the medical sector.

The project is conceived in line with Pastor Umo Eno-led government development blueprint – the ARISE Agenda, and aligned with the Nigerian Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII), and the healthcare objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and expected to better the lots of AkwaIbomites, Nigerians and the world at large.

Beyond His Excellency’s new health economy and medical tourism, this legacy project is creating massive employment opportunities, as well as attracting world-class talents to help strengthen the state economically.

Therefore, going by the new health economy in the state, we, the Forum of Social Media Administrators and Influencers, are highly impressed with the purposeful leadership of Pastor Umo Eno in the state.

Sir, your numerous life-touching and people-oriented projects have demonstrated your commitment and doggedness to leave Akwa Ibom better than you met it. We thank you for your clarity of vision to better the lots of AkwaIbomites.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, strongly aligns to your commitment in healthcare delivery, which of course, is what has informed your decision to invest this much, in the health and tourism sector of the state. And we believe that with the supporting infrastructure within the health ecosystem, Akwa Ibom is prepared to lead the world.

We pledge to continue to work and partner with your led government through the Forum of Social Media Administrators and Influencers, in ensuring that you deliver creditably the dividends of democracy to our people. Hopefully, Ibom International Hospital and the medical city will be ready for commissioning in June 2027, as promised.

Accordingly, as a complementary facility, the already established 308-bed Ibom specialist hospital, equipped by JNC International, with the aim of discouraging Nigerians from seeking medical treatment abroad, and commissioned in 2015 is also there to work alongside the Ibom International Hospital anchored by the Ibom Medical City.
