•••Commends Gov Eno’s leadership, assures investors of peace, cooperation

The Executive Chairman of Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, has assured Governor Umo Eno, prospective investors and development partners that Oro Nation is fully committed to supporting the actualisation of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, describing it as a once-in-a-generation opportunity that will transform the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

Chief Uno gave the assurance on Sunday while responding to questions from journalists at the Uyo Township Stadium during Governor Umo Eno’s engagement with the 2,272 Village Youth Presidents across the State.

The Council Chairman said the Governor’s appeal to Oro elders, stakeholders and youths to embrace peace and give full support to the realisation of the audacious Ibom Deep Seaport project was timely and reflective of his genuine commitment to ensuring that the long-awaited seaport finally becomes a reality after years of delays and missed opportunities.

According to him, Governor Eno has moved the Ibom Deep Seaport project beyond mere political discussions to a stage where every Oro stakeholder must place the collective interest of the State above personal, sectional or parochial considerations.

He noted that Governor Umo Eno has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the project through sustained engagements with investors, strategic partnerships, international investment meetings and the successful pursuit of critical approvals required to move the seaport from the drawing board to implementation.

“The Governor has shown exceptional determination in driving the Ibom Deep Seaport project. What is required of us as stakeholders is to support these efforts and create an atmosphere that inspires confidence among investors.

“This project is bigger than any individual, community or local government area. It is an Akwa Ibom project. It is a national economic asset in the making. We must therefore approach it with unity and a sense of responsibility,” he stated.

Chief Uno observed that the benefits of the seaport would extend far beyond the host communities, explaining that the project is expected to stimulate industrialisation, expand maritime activities, create thousands of jobs, attract foreign investment and unlock enormous economic opportunities for future generations.

The former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and ex-Commissioner particularly applauded the Governor for his humility in repeatedly engaging stakeholders and seeking understanding rather than allowing issues capable of creating division to derail a project of such strategic importance.

He expressed confidence that, with the level of progress already recorded and the growing interest from investors, the Ibom Deep Seaport is closer to reality today than at any other time in its history, adding that posterity would remember those who worked together to make the project a success.
